Dana Housley : Star softball player dies four days after collapsing at game

The family of Dana Housley says the softball player has died days after suffering a brain aneurysm.

Coach Dave Masucci, also the school’s athletic director, confirmed the news.

Her father, Larry Housley, made a statement on Facebook directed to everyone who was praying for his daughter’s well being.

“Tonight our beautiful Dana chose to go with the Lord,” he wrote. “We don’t yet understand his plan for her, but she will make a perfect angel.”

Friends, teammates and the softball community throughout the nation rallied around the 15-year-old as she battled for life.

Dana Housley was at the batter’s box in the last inning of a travel ball game for the California Thunder on Saturday when she collapsed. She was on life support in the ICU at Kaiser Hospital in Fontana.

There was an outpouring of support on social media from classmates and even those who did not know the athlete, posting messages using the hashtag #PrayforDana.
