Crane, flatbed truck needed to move 1000 Pound Man - Watch

A man weighing more than 1,000 lbs. was moved Sunday by a crane, then loaded onto a flatbed truck and taken down I-95 from Providence to his new home in Cranston.

A coalition consisting of the Providence and Cranston Fire Departments, Lifespan, the Hospital Association of Rhode Island and Bay Crane Northeast helped move Brian Butler from his closing nursing home room to a new facility in Cranston on Sunday.

Michael Raia of the Rhode Island Executive Office of Health & Human Services says planning for the move began weeks ago.

“This is a patient with very complicated medical needs and it required a coordinated approach,” Raia told WJAR. “His [Butler] care and safety has been our top priority throughout this transport.”

WJAR-TV reports the transport took nearly seven hours.

Well, Sorry to say, no sympathy for this man. Picture even proves it. Huge man, smile on his face with a TV remote in his hand. Sure looks like to me that he is trying to help himself. Give him another pallet of Chetto’s .

If this guy isn’t a candidate for gastric bypass I don’t know who is. When a person is bed bound like this, someone must be bringing him food. I realize he is too heavy for surgery but some effort could be made with that as a goal. What kind of a life is it when you are bedbound by a condition of your own making. I am not fat shaming as much as saying there are ways to help this man besides just letting him lay in bed for the rest of his life.

Somehow the people who enable these severely obese people need to be held accountable for the harm they are causing him. How about reckless indifference? Aiding and abetting? Or something to stop the feeding. They are trapped in a bed and they are brought 10s of thousands of calories a day to create that condition. As he lacks the ability to control himself he needs to have someone in control that will not bend to his will and threats.
All of his misery could have been avoided if someone cared enough to just say no. I am sure the enabler “loved” him very much…that is how they showed it…by turning his life into hell on earth.
Yea…they have their rights. Someone should allow him the right to get his own damn food. But then he would call for a few pizzas.
Did you know when these folks die and are cremated…they are cut up into manageable pieces and burned in batches? Sometime the grease catches fire and turns the whole oven in to an inferno.
