CBS Cancels The Millers : Sitcom Cancelled Midway Through Season Two

CBS Cancels The Millers, In a somewhat surprising development, CBS is canning a comedy — and it’s not the one many might expect. The network pulled the plug on sophomore sitcom The Millers late Friday afternoon.

The comedy—which starred Beau Bridges and Margo Martindale as the separated parents of Will Arnett’s recently divorced character Nathan—moved to Mondays this season after a last-minute scheduling move that gave Mom the coveted post-The Big Bang Theory timeslot. The show was only a few episodes into its second season run, and will shoot one more episode before shutting down production. At the moment, Monday’s upcoming episode is the only one scheduled to air.

The Millers was on the bubble last season, but CBS opted to renew it over the Robin Williams- and Sarah Michelle Gellar-starring The Crazy Ones. The good news is that its axing frees up Emmy-winner Martindale and the rest of the cast to work on projects that are more worthy of their talents.

This is very surprising as The Millers is a funny show! It’s definitely better than the dysfunctional mess that is Mom. What are you thinking CBS?
