Cat Cora and her wife Jennifer have filed for divorce after two years of marriage.
“It is with great sadness, that after 17 years, a tremendous amount work, careful consideration and heavy hearts, my wife and I have mutually decided to no longer remain married,” the 48-year-old said in a statement released to People on Monday. “In love, there is a season, a reason and a lifetime.”
The celeb chef and Jennifer, 44, have four boys together. In the divorce announcement, Cora said the pair will co-parent peacefully for the sake of their kids.
“Although this is not what we ever imagined, we will always have four incredible reasons to celebrate our years together: our sons,” she said. “We are forever parents to our boys and are jointly committed to raising them in a peaceful, nurturing and healthy environment.”
According to TMZ, the Food Network star is asking for joint physical custody of the kids while Jennifer has requested full physical custody. Jennifer also reportedly requested spousal support.
Cat Cora, who recently released a memoir, Cooking As Fast As I Can, made television history in 2005 when she become the first female Iron Chef on “Iron Chef America.”
