Bruce Irvin tweets displeasure toward Seattle Seahawks

Bruce Irvin seemed to let loose on Twitter Sunday night about the Seahawks not picking up the fifth-year option on his rookie deal.

“Worked for everything I got in my life this (expletive) will b no different! I earns my keeps!” Irvin tweeted.

“Faced way tougher adversity getting outta them streets coming up! That’s (expletive) is nothing! (Expletive) THAT OPTION!” he continued. “I am a Seahawk! #12thman”

“Im a very blunt person and that won’t ever change sorry if u dislike it,” Irvin added.

Heading into the NFL Draft, there were also rumors the Seahawks might trade Irvin to the Atlanta Falcons, reuniting him with former Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told reporters over the weekend that he wants to keep Irvin in Seattle long-term. He also said the team talked to Irvin last Thursday.

“We discussed what our plan is and what we are planning on doing, still knowing that maybe something could happen that could change the decision,” Carroll said, according to The Seattle Times. “It has nothing to do with the statement of how we feel about him in our program. We expect him to be here for a long time and we will work to get that done.”

The option would have paid Irvin a reported $7.75 million. It’s possible the pending contract extension for quarterback Russell Wilson may have played into the decision.

Irvin has 16.5 sacks in his three seasons with nearly half of those coming as a rookie. He also has three career interceptions. Both of his picks in 2014 were returned for touchdowns.
