Cornerback Brandon Browner’s contract with the Saints is “almost finished,” reports Pro Football Talk. Browner, 30, hit the market after the Patriots declined to pick up his option.
According to NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the deal is a 3 year contract worth $15 million that includes $10 million guaranteed.
The Saints strengthen their cornerback position with this signing, as Browner is a huge 6’4 Pro Bowl caliber talent.
Browner has made one Pro-Bowl in 2011 and comes with more than enough championship experience. Browner is coming off of two consecutive Superbowl victories with the Seahawks and the Patriots, and also won a championship in the CFL in 2008.
The two-time champion has 11 career interceptions, which is as many as all the current cornerbacks on the Saints roster combined.
The Saints continue to make huge noise in free agency, and are looking to make more. Names like Tramon Williams, C.J. Spiller and even Reggie Bush are ones to keep an eye on as NFL free agency continues.
