Billy Morgan : Freestyle snowboarder lands world's first backside 1800 quad cork

Billy Morgan has pulled off an amazing feat, achieving the world’s first “1,800 quadruple cork.”

The ridiculous manoeuvre involves flipping four times, while the body also completes five rotations on a sideways or downwards-facing axis.

Billy Morgan, who represented Great Britain at the 2014 Winter Olympics, was the man tipped by many fans of the sport online as the one who would have the potential to land the trick.

Billy Morgan himself commented: “So stoked. I’ve been thinking about this for so long, it’s such a relief to have it done.”

Ever the perfectionist, however, Morgan says that the trick could have gone smoother, as he required putting a hand down to help balance him on the landing.

“It could have been cleaner, but I’m still pumped!”

There is no further tricks in the pipeline for Morgan, who will be taking the summer off now in order to have operations on his knees.

The jump took 40 hours to build with the help of Red Bull to ensure Billy could maximize the opportunity to make snowboarding history
