Aspen Foods Chicken Recall : Nearly 2 Million Pounds of Frozen, Raw Stuffed Chicken Products Recalled

Aspen Foods has issued a massive recall of nearly 2 million pounds of chicken due to possible Salmonella contamination.

The USDA says the variety of Aspen chicken items were produced between April 15, 2015 and July 10, 2015 with “best if used by” dates between July 14, 2016 and October 10, 2016. The brands associated with this recall include: Acclaim, Antioch Farms, Buckley Farms, Centrella Signature, Chestnut Farms, Family Favorites, Kirkwood, Koch Foods, Market Day, Oven Cravers, Rose, Rosebud Farm, Roundy’s, Safeway Kitchens, Schwan’s, Shaner’s, Spartan and Sysco.

The product subject to recall bears the establishment number “P-1358″ inside the USDA mark of inspection. This product was shipped to retail stores and food service locations nationwide. The USDA says they were notified of a cluster of Salmonella illnesses on June 23, 2015.

They say some illness was caused even after patients followed proper cooking instructions, so the USDA is recommending consumers treat this product as like a raw chicken product. Consumers with questions can contact the company directly at (844) 277-6802.

The same day, the USDA also announced Murry’s Inc. has recalled 20,000 pounds of gluten-free breaded chicken nugget product that tested positive for Staphylococcal enterotoxin. This recall affects 12-oz. boxes of “Bell & Evans Gluten Free Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets” with a “Best By” date of March 25, 2016. The product, bearing establishment number “P-516” inside the USDA mark of inspection, was shipped to an establishment for distribution nationwide.
