Arrest Over Frozen Bodies : Detroit mother in custody after 2 frozen children are found in freezer

A Detroit mother was arrested Tuesday after the frozen bodies of a boy and girl were found in a deep freezer in the family’s home, police said.

According to The Detroit News , a bailiff called 911 at 11.30am yesterday morning, after discovering the body of 14-year-old girl in the Martin Luther King Apartment building in Detroit, whilst attempting to evict the mother for non-payment of rent.

The emergency services then found the body of an 11-year-old boy while searching the property.

Both bodies were in plastic bags.

Although she has not been charged for the deaths, their mother, 35-year-old Mitchelle Blair, has been taken into custody and is being questioned by police.

Before being arrested, Ms Blair posted to her Facebook profile: “Loyal to my babies.”

Another of her recent posts said: “There is no greater blessing than being called Mom.”

The two dead children’s siblings, 11 and 17, were also found at the address, although it is unknown whether they knew the location of their brother and sister.

They have been placed in protective custody.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig said: “It’s unknown what factors were involved in this.”

A neighbour has revealed that the two, home-schooled, children dropped out of sight about a year ago.

Carrie McDonald, spoke to the dead children’s mother yesterday morning:

“She told me this morning, ‘Ms. Carrie, if you don’t never see me again just know that I love you’.”
