Aramis Ramirez's career comes full circle with return to Pirates - Details

The Pirates have announced that they’ve acquired Aramis Ramirez and cash from the Brewers for minor league pitcher Yhonathan Barrios.

The Brewers are also expected to send between $2 and $3 million to the Pirates in the deal to cover the rest of Ramirez’s salary.

Ramirez announced during spring training that this would be his last season in the majors.

“Aramis has had a great career, and we have had the opportunity to be a part of it,” Brewers General Manager Doug Melvin said. “He is still a very respected hitter when
there is a chance to drive in runs. We wish Aramis and his family the best.”

Ramirez began his Major League career with the Pirates.

This could be just the first of several trades by the Brewers before next Friday’s trading deadline.
