Andre Johnson : Texans WR reaches 1,000 receptions for a career

Andre Johnson reached 1,000 career receptions with his fourth reception in Sunday’s matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Texans fans cheered as Johnson was honored with a video tribute at NRG Stadium.

“It puts you in an elite group. I tell people I never thought I would be in this situation,” Johnson said afterward the game. “You can say everything you want when you first come in the league about how good you want to be but you have to go out there and play and put the numbers up and things like that. It’s crazy, man.”

The veteran receiver entered the game with 996 receptions and got to 1,000 with a catch in the second quarter. He was given a standing ovation during a timeout as the fans realized he had reached the milestone.

Johnson said he was hoping to accomplish the mark at NRG Stadium. The concussion he suffered at Jacksonville allowed him to do just that.

It was just special to do it here because we have fans that have been riding with us for a long time,” Johnson said. “I’ve been here to experience a lot of the things that have went on with this organization. It was just fun to do it here.”
